Deck Cleaning Services in Rockford, IL
Bring your deck back to life with professional cleaning that protects the wood and gets it ready for the season ahead.
If you have a deck, you already know the drill. Every spring you walk out there, look at the gray, splotchy boards, and think: "I should really do something about that." Maybe you grab a broom and push some leaves off, or maybe you tell yourself you'll get to it next weekend. And then suddenly it's July.
That's where we come in. Brite Site Pressure Washing has been cleaning decks in the Rockford area for over 20 years, and we've seen every combination of wood type, stain, and weathering imaginable. We know how to get your deck looking great again without damaging the surface or stripping away protective finishes you might want to keep.
Why Decks in Illinois Take Such a Beating
The Midwest isn't kind to outdoor wood surfaces. Your deck goes through freeze-thaw cycles all winter, gets pounded by spring rain, bakes in summer humidity, and then gets buried under wet leaves in fall. Each of those seasons leaves its mark:
- Winter brings moisture that seeps into the wood grain and expands when it freezes, causing cracks and splintering over time.
- Spring warmth and rain create the perfect environment for mold and mildew to take hold, especially on boards that stay shaded.
- Summer UV exposure fades stain and breaks down wood fibers, turning rich brown tones into dull gray.
- Fall leaves trap moisture against the surface, accelerating rot and leaving tannin stains.
A professional cleaning once a year—or at least every couple of years—can counteract most of this damage and keep your deck in good shape for much longer than if you just let it go.
Deck Materials We Work With
Pressure-Treated Lumber
The most common deck material around here. We clean it thoroughly without raising the grain or causing fuzzing.
Cedar and Redwood
Beautiful but softer woods that need lower pressure and careful technique to avoid surface damage.
Composite and Trex
These decks still get dirty and grow mold. We use the right cleaning agents without damaging the material's finish.
Hardwood (Ipe, Mahogany)
Dense tropical hardwoods that resist rot but still collect surface grime and mildew.
More Than Just Decks
While we're out there, we can also clean your deck railings, stairs, pergola, gazebo, privacy screens, and wood fencing. It makes sense to do everything at once rather than having one clean section next to a dirty fence. Most of our customers bundle these together.
Our Deck Cleaning Approach
We don't just point a pressure washer at your deck and pull the trigger. Each material needs a different pressure setting, tip, and cleaning solution. Here's our general process:
First, we clear the deck surface and move any furniture, planters, or grills out of the way. Then we inspect the boards for any loose nails, popped screws, or structural concerns we should tell you about.
Next, we apply a wood-safe cleaning solution and let it work on the mold, mildew, and embedded dirt for several minutes. After that, we clean the surface using the appropriate pressure for your deck material—typically much lower than what we'd use on concrete pressure washing. We work with the grain, not against it, and keep our distance consistent so you don't end up with tiger stripes.
Finally, we rinse everything down and let it dry. If you're planning to stain or seal the deck afterward, a good cleaning is actually the required first step. We can schedule the cleaning to give you a few days of dry weather before the stain goes on.
Commercial Deck and Patio Cleaning
We also work with restaurants, bars, and hospitality businesses that have outdoor seating areas. A dirty patio or deck isn't just unattractive to customers—it's a health and safety concern. Slippery algae on boards near a busy dining area is an accident waiting to happen.
We can work around your schedule, coming in early mornings or on off-days so your business isn't disrupted. Property managers and HOAs with shared outdoor spaces have also been regular customers of ours for years.
Serving the Greater Rockford Area
We clean decks for homeowners and businesses throughout the State-Line area, from Rockford and Loves Park to Roscoe, Belvidere, and everywhere in between. If you're within driving distance of Winnebago or Boone County, we can probably help.
